Increased Uptake of GPS

Over the last few months more and more drivers have GPS devices attached to their windsheilds.  According to research at Canalys - "In the first nine months of 2006, nearly 12 million Global Positioning System (GPS) devices were sold across the world."

This figure has been estimated to double in the year 2007 forecasting at nearly 28 million units.  Current users are mainly drivers, sailors or just gadget mongers.  However, GPS will be making its way on to more and more mobile phones this year with the heavier users in Europe.  Not only will they be able to get directions but also information on local restaurants, pubs, shops etc.
