Searching for images has always been restricted to how well image files are name and tagged. Up until recently it has not been possible to index the actual contents of an image.

Google recently announced a new technology that will make image search simpler and more effective.

The new tool will endeavour to rank images in order of importance, similar to the way its current engine indexes web pages.

Image search has always been difficult search engines have never been able to examine the objects within them. Google’s new technology will be one of the first.
