HomeShoring is "the transfer of service industry employment from offices to home-based employees with appropriate telephone and Internet facilities" according to Macmillan English Dictionary. The practise started with call centres staff, but these days can cover a multitude of different roles and companies. This is a very sensible solution for companies that would like to cut costs by reducing their office floor space and with IP Telephony (VoIP) keeping the telephone costs down is so much easier. By utilising VoIP Home Workers can plug in their IP Phones to their broadband connection and make and receive calls as if they were in the office. Outgoing phone calls will display (or withhold if required) their office number and incoming calls to their extension will ring on their phone at home - all without any extra call forwarding charges. Because the calls are all routed through a central PBX, it means central management - no need for workers to track and bill calls themselves and it is very easy for managers or supervisors to monitor usage. In call centres managers or supervisors can listen in to calls being made by home workers and manage call queues in the same manner as if they were all together in the office. The benefit for staff is a much more relaxed environment to work in and no travel time, among many others. If you are considering reducing your company's costs then why not call us and to see how HomeShoring can help your business save money. In some cases our clients were able to close down their offices all together with all their staff now working from home - saving themselves many thousands of pounds in office space charges.
